I know its a little late to talk about where to go on Mothers Day in Downtown Fullerton, but you can use this info for anytime you want to have a nice dinner. The restaurants I am going to suggest are not in my top 10 becasue I generally like a more casual dining experience, but there places are perfect for a nicer option.
The Matador is on Harbor south of Chapman on the west side. The food is excellent. I usually judge mexican places by their salsa and this place has some of the best freshly made salsa I have ever had. The atmosphere is nicer than most mexican restaurants, but don't stay too late, the drinking crowd starts to show up around 9.
Mulberry Street is also a nice option. I have never eaten there, so I can't vouch for the food, but the atmosphere is very cool. This place will score points becasue it is kind of a hidden gem. It is on Wilshire just west of Harbor.
